While exploring through the monuments and memorial visually, my favorite sites are Ford’s theater, Washington Monument and the Arlington National Cemetery. The only theater I know is the Ford’s theater that is located at 511 10th Street, NW, Washington D.C. and started stage performances in 1860s. Many people know this theater because it is where the President Lincoln got assassinated on April 14, 1865 and died the next day. This theater is called Ford’s theater is because he’s the one who bought this theater. Before, it used to be a church but later on he constructed into a theater. What impact that it have on me is that there are many actor and actress has a chance to act in this stage. This theater is the most famous historical theater and now there are so many who really want to act on this. Back then, there are so many actor and actress that could perform like Laura Keene, Harry Hawk, John Wilkes Booth and many more! The second monument or memorial I like is the Arlington National Cemetery. While virtually looking in the Arlington National Cemetery, I didn’t know that it is a U.S. cemetery. They started buried the dead since the American Civil War until now. This cemetery is across the Potomac River from Washington D.C..Today, there are families who would go to this cemetery and visit them. Most people would get lost in this cemetery and today, there is an app called “ANC explorer” that lets families and friend to locate the grave sites or event throughout the cemetery. What impact me is that I should be proud how many people would risk their life to fight their country. Remember how I post my intro that why I wanted to go to Washington? It’s because I really want to see the Lincoln Memorial. That is my number place why I wanted to go because I want to see the statue of Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln Monument is a monument that is built to honor the 16th president and it is located northwest of the National Mall in Washington D.C.. I think he is the only president that would do anything to help the country stronger. He’s the one that eliminate all the slavery in the U.S. and would risk his life while fulfill his duties in the American military. Also I want to go there because I want to honor Lincoln and appreciate how he does a lot of things to help our country.
