The United State Capitol is a place where the people would have a meeting of the United States Congress. In the House Chambers, there are 23 members in the relief portraits surrounding the walls. The members are Moses, Solon Papinian, Gaius, Maimonides, Suleiman the Magnificent, Pope, Innocent III, Simon de Montfortm Hugo Grotius, Willian Blackstone, Napoleon I, Thomas Jefferson, George Mason, Robert Joseph Pothier, Jean Baptiste Colbert, Edward I, Alfonso X, Gregory IX, Saint Louis, Justinian I, Tribonian, Lycurgus of Sparta, and lastly Hammurabi. I think the reaon why these image were chosen is because theu are the most faomous lawmaker and lawgiver throughout the history especially Moses. There are so many member that interest me, but out of all of them, thomas Jefferson, Napoleon I, and Moses are the top three in my list. Thomas Jefferson is the third preident of the Unitd States and the first republican President who limited the government's power in order for the people to have more liberty and rights. I think he is a really successful person in his first term and also the most important thing is that he wrote the Declaration of Independence that has changed everyone's lives.Nect is Napoleon I. He was the leader of the French military who led a successful campaign in the Revolutionary War. Even though Napoleon I isn't American, he is one of our allies. Many people in France lovehim because he would try to help the people gain freedom during the French Revolution. Lastly, is Moses. Moses is a Hebrew prophet and a lawgiver. Also, the Commandments was given to Moses by God. I think Moses is the most importantperson because in the House Chamber, there are 11 portrait on the left and right facing each other, but one of them, which is Moses, was right between them. Two examples of art or architecture that inspires democracy are Jeffersonian Architecture and Pericles.
